There are TN/IPS/MVA/OLED displays on the market now, so what are the differences between these panels and who should everyone choose? The editor has searched for relevant information to help everyone clarify the differences and characteristics between them. Let's follow the editor to learn about a simple comparison of TN/IPS/MVA/OLED display panels.
TN
TN panel, also known as Twisted Nematic panel, is a type of display screen. Due to its low production cost, TN has become the most widely used entry-level LCD panel and is widely used in mainstream mid to low-end LCD displays on the market.
The advantage of TN panel is that it has fewer output gray levels, faster liquid crystal molecule deflection speed, and shorter response time.
IPS
IPS (In Plane Switching) technology is a new generation of LCD panel technology released by Hitachi in 1995, which entered the practical mass production stage in 1996. The advantages of IPS panels are high visual angle, fast response speed, and accurate color reproduction.
MVA
The full name of MVA panel is Multi domain Vertical Alignment, which is a multi quadrant vertical alignment technology. MVA is an early application of wide-angle LCD panels, developed by Fujitsu in Japan.
The MVA panel uses protrusions to make the liquid crystal stand still, not in a traditional upright position, but at a certain angle; When a voltage is applied to change the liquid crystal molecules horizontally to allow backlight to pass through more quickly, it can significantly shorten the display time and also broaden the field of view angle.
OLED
OLED display screens are displays made using organic light-emitting diodes. Due to its simultaneous self emitting organic light-emitting diodes, it does not require a backlight source, has high contrast, thin thickness, wide viewing angle, fast reaction speed, can be used to make curved panels, has a wide temperature range, and is easy to construct and process.
difference
Of course, the above are all boring parameter descriptions that people don't really like to read. So what are the differences between these few screens?

As one of the most commonly used screens at present, the biggest advantage of TN screens is their short response time, so the screen refresh rate can be achieved very high. Other aspects do not have significant advantages, including color display and other characteristics, which are at an outdated level.
However, IPS has a relatively balanced range of properties, with precise color reproduction and excellent texture. In addition, the brightness of the display screen is also relatively high. Of course, IPS also has its own shortcomings, which are light leakage and low contrast on the screen.
Next, let's talk about the MVA screen, which is a relatively rare screen. The MVA image is soft, eye friendly, with good light leakage control, high contrast, and very clear text display. Of course, the color reproduction is not as accurate as the IPS screen.
As for OLED screens, they have excellent characteristics such as no need for backlighting, high contrast, thin thickness, wide viewing angle, fast response speed, suitability for curved panels, and wide temperature range, making them ideal display materials for the future. However, the biggest problem with OLED screens currently is their short lifespan and screen burning issues. However, with the advancement of technology, the lifespan of OLED displays has been greatly extended compared to the past.
Finally, it is recommended that you choose screens made of different materials according to their different uses. If you often use a display screen to process text work like the editor, choosing an MVA screen is better. As for scenes that require bright colors such as playing games and watching movies, IPS is the best choice. Of course, if you want to play FPS and enjoy ultra-high refresh rates, TN is still a good choice at present.
