The backlight module includes lighting source, reflector, light guide plate, diffuser, brightening film (prism), and frame, etc. The backlight modules used in LCD can be mainly divided into two categories: side light backlight modules and direct beam backlight modules. The backlight module light source mainly uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps and light-emitting diode (LED) light sources as the backlight source for LCD.
The reflector plate, also known as the reflector cover, is mainly used to completely feed the light emitted by the light source into the light guide plate, minimizing unnecessary consumption as much as possible. The main function of the light guide plate is to guide the light emitted by the side light source to the front of the panel.
Prism film, also known as brightening film, is mainly used to refract and reflect scattered light through the film layer, concentrate it at a certain angle, and then emit it from the backlight, achieving the display effect of brightening the screen.
The main function of the diffuser is to correct the side light of the backlight module to a uniform surface light source, in order to achieve the effect of optical diffusion. There are two types of diffusion plates: upper diffusion plate and lower diffusion plate. The upper diffuser is located between the prism and the LCD component, closer to the display panel. The lower diffuser is located between the light guide plate and the prism, closer to the backlight.
