LCD display is a passive light-emitting element, and the display screen itself does not emit light, but is illuminated by the backlight system below it. The combination of backlight and LCD display screen forms the LCD display module.
LCD backlight is a flat and uniform lighting device, with cold cathode fluorescent tubes or LED strips arranged on both sides or one side (possibly long or short) of the entire backlight source as the light source. Cold cathode lamps are linear light sources, while LEDs are point light sources. To convert this light source into a surface light source, a light guide plate is required. Light guide plates are generally made of high transmittance acrylic plastic, with a very smooth and flat surface, so that most of the internal light will be regularly reflected on their flat surface, rather than being emitted to the outside of the light guide plate. The bottom of the light guide plate of the LCD display is printed with white dots.
At the locations where the light guide plate is printed with dots, the light is no longer a regular total reflection but will shoot out from above the light guide plate. By controlling the density of each node at each position, the amount of light emitted by the light guide plate at that position can be controlled. The precisely designed light guide plate mesh can evenly distribute the incident light on both sides on the entire plane. Optical films will be placed above the light guide plate, which provide uniform light and concentrate large angle light for frontal observation.
