Large screen projection display systems are playing an increasingly important role in various fields. The first part of this article mainly introduces the widely used TFT-LCD projection display technology and DLP projection display technology. At the same time, it introduces the projection splicing display technology used to achieve large screen display, and provides a detailed introduction to the composition and application of typical projection splicing display systems. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of three piece TFT-LCD and single piece DLP projection display in implementing projection splicing systems were compared, indicating that DLP technology is an ideal projection display technology as a splicing system unit.
The second part of this article mainly introduces the color theory in projection display. After studying the color uniformity and brightness uniformity of DLP projection display units, it is proposed that the main reason for the color difference in DLP projection splicing system is that the three primary colors of each projection unit have different display brightness for the same input signal, and based on the characteristics of color difference and brightness uniformity in DLP display units, A theory was proposed to correct the color uniformity of the DLP projection stitching system by adjusting the AD (analog-to-digital conversion) module and LUT (Look Up Table) module in the DLP projection system, matching the output brightness of three primary colors in the high grayscale layer, and matching the white field chromaticity in the low grayscale layer.
The third part of this article proposes a practical system based on the theory of the second part, and uses this system to correct a 2x2 projection stitching system. The analysis of the corrected results shows that using this system for color uniformity correction of the DLP projection stitching system can achieve satisfactory results and is suitable for practical engineering requirements. Finally, a summary of the research work on this research topic was presented, and new research directions were proposed to further improve the color uniformity of large screen projection splicing display systems.
