TFT-LCD, also known as Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display, is a type of liquid crystal display that uses thin film transistor technology to improve image quality.
Simply put, TFT-LCD panels can be seen as two glass substrates sandwiched between a layer of liquid crystal. The upper glass substrate is a ColorFilter, while the lower glass has transistors embedded in it. When the current passes through the transistor and generates an electric field change, it causes the liquid crystal molecules to deflect, changing the polarization of the light, and then using a polarizer to determine the brightness state of the pixel. In addition, the upper layer of glass is fitted with a color filter, forming each pixel containing three colors: red, blue, and green. These pixels emitting red, blue, and green colors form the video image on the panel.
Thin film transistor liquid crystal display technology is a clever combination of microelectronics technology and liquid crystal display technology. The technology of microelectronic precision processing on single crystals is transplanted to the processing of thin film transistor (TFT) arrays on large-area glass. Then, the array substrate is combined with another substrate with a color filter film, using mature liquid crystal display (LCD) technology to form a liquid crystal box. After going through subsequent processes such as polarizer coating, the liquid crystal display device is finally formed.
TFT-LCD has the advantages of small size, light weight, low radiation, low power consumption, and full color, making it widely used in various display devices, such as car displays, digital devices, televisions, flat panel displays, and projectors.
